Newcastle United have an ‘offer ready’ to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli this summer, worth around €90m.
That’s according to Il Mattino, relayed by Calciomercato, who say Newcastle will force Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentis into a decision on the Georgian.
Kvaratskhelia was one the stars of the show for the Italian champions last season, with a string of impressive performances in Serie A and the Champions League after a €10m move from Dinamo Butumi.
He ended the campaign with 14 goals and 17 assists in 43 games, establishing himself as one of the rising stars in not only Italy but Europe.
There has naturally been speculation about a potential transfer as a result and Il Mattino now report that Newcastle ‘have a €90m offer ready’ to sign him.
They offer nothing more than that at this point but do say such an offer will force De Laurentiis into a decision, either he will close any negotiations, or he will ‘try to trigger an auction’ and potentially bring in competitors and drive the price up.
Whether Newcastle would be willing to enter a bidding war is unknown, but they do seem particularly focused on the Italian market at this point.
They’ve already paid big to sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan and have been heavily linked with a move for Juventus’ Federico Chiesa as well. Now it is Kvaratskhelia who they appear to be keen on and planning a huge bid for.
