With a contract running out at the end of the season, Houssem Aouar was always going to be a target for a number of clubs.
One of those appears to be Manchester United, who made the player an offer, that he has ‘turned down’, according to Sport 1 journalist Patrick Berger.
The reporter took to Twitter to deliver the news, as the player is ‘close to joining’ Eintracht Frankfurt as a free agent.
That’s when he then mentions the fact the player ‘turned down proposals from other clubs’, and brings in Manchester United as one of those.
#SGE – Houssem Aouar is close to join Eintracht Frankfurt as free agent. The 24yo midfielder turned down proposals from other clubs in summer, like ManUnited. Nothing signed yet but negotiations in advanced stages. Signing fee: €5m, salary around €3m. ⚫️🔴 @SPORT1 @CMoffiziell

Regarding the midfielder’s move to Germany, it’s made clear that nothing has been fully signed yet, but negotiations are at an ‘advanced stage’.
Berger then adds details, such as the fact the Lyon player will get a signing on fee of €5m as well as a salary of around €3m.
There’s no other information about Manchester United or their offer, but perhaps they weren’t offering him as much play time as the German side?
Either way, they appear set to miss out on him.
