The possibility of Napoli defender Kim Min-jae ending up at Manchester United this summer is becoming ‘more and more concrete’.
That’s according to journalist Ciro Venerato, who says the centre-back could more than quadruple his wages with a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Kim has been one of the key pillars of Napoli’s success in Serie A this season, arriving in the summer as a replacement for former fan favourite Kalidou Koulibaly.
He’s managed to fill the gap left behind by the former defender and then some, establishing himself as one of the best defenders in Europe and thus earning himself plenty of interest from some of the biggest sides.
Manchester United are believed to be one the sides particularly keen in him, with a report today even insisting they are ready to add him to Erik ten Hag’s squad at whatever cost.
That’s something backed up by Venerato, who insists the possibility of Manchester United moving for him is becoming an even more serious option for him.
“For the Korean, by now, the United option is more and more concrete, even if Chelsea have tried too,” he said about the Manchester United target.
“Kim in Naples earns just over €2m/year. In England he could aspire to a contract starting from €8m/year and going up. Napoli hoped for a choice by the Korean that could be more than professional.
“The officers, however, moved in the opposite direction. For the substitute, the return option of Koulibaly is certainly excluded. The London club had offered both the defender and Pulisic.
“The American is a profile that interests the Neapolitan club, even if both the attacker’s salary and the role, currently covered by the Georgian talent, contribute to curbing enthusiasm.
“Furthermore, the Senegalese earns €10m/year net and does not fall within the blue parameters.”
