Manchester City and Manchester United are both interested in Thiago Almada, according to claims from Argentina.
On Twitter, journalist Bruno Gonzalez Garcia writes that the city rivals have both contacted Atlanta United to ask about the player.
For now, there’s no information on whether Manchester City or Manchester United are ready to place bids for him.
Almada has eight goals and nine assists in 18 appearances for Atlanta United this season. His contract there runs until December 2025, and he’s currently valued at €22m.
His name may not sound unfamiliar to Manchester City fans, because a few years ago, when he still played in Argentina, he was linked to Pep Guardiola’s side and other English clubs.
It was only in February 2022 that he ended up moving from Velez Sarsfield, with Atlanta United spending €14.55m on his signing.
Since it’s quite rare for Manchester City and Manchester United to invest in players from MLS, we’d rather see some new stories from major outlets before completely buying this rumour. Perhaps there’ll be more from the South American press in the coming days.
