With Francesco Farioli being claimed to be one of the top candidates to take charge of Sunderland AFC next season, he may already be thinking of his first signings with the Black Cats.
A story from Turkish outlet Sabah today reveals the Championship side’s interest in Tayfur Bingol.
In fact, the report claims the 30-year-old ‘wants to leave’ Besiktas, where he’s been on loan, despite their wish to buy him from Alanyaspor this summer.
It’s claimed that Farioli, who’s apparently ‘agreed in principle’ to take charge of Sunderland, wants to take Bingol there.
The manager had been working at Alanyaspor until February, so the two know each other very well from their time together at the Turkish club.
Sabah writes that Farioli will sign Bingol for whatever club he takes charge in Europe, even if his contract with Sunderland is ‘cancelled’.
The 30-year-old should then return to Analyaspor, where he has a contract until 2025, this summer.
Then we shall wait and see if the Black Cats are actually going for his signing, as he’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at only €2.1m.
