Everton would likely be more than happy to pay the €40m needed for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahima Sangaré, although that would probably be unwise.
That’s according to journalists Willem Vissers and Kenneth Perez, who threw the Toffees into the mix for Sangaré during a conversation on ESPN’s Voetbalpraat, relayed by PSV Fans.
The Ivorian has been a key player for PSV since his arrival from Toulouse in September 2020, making 126 appearances for the club since that point.
He’s impressed during his time in the Netherlands, so much so that he has been the subject of Premier League interest in recent windows, including last year when Chelsea made a bid for him.
It is likely he will again be subject of interest this summer, with it believed the 25-year-old will be the next major departure from PSV after Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke left in the January transfer window.
And Perez believes Everton are one of those who would be more than happy to pay for him, although Vissers isn’t convinced that would be smart.
“From an economic point of view, it is of course extremely stupid to substitute Sangaré,” he said after Sangaré was left on the bench for the clash with Excelsior.
“There will probably be a club like Everton saying: ‘let him come for €40m’. He still represents transfer value”.
“I was at Spakenburg-PSV,” added Vissers in response.
“That Spakenburg coach is quite a handy guy tactically and they were constantly releasing Sangaré. The balls went endlessly from left to right at too slow a pace. If they had been a little less lucky, they would have just lost.
“Slow, slow, slow… Spakenburg just pulled back and let Sangaré have the ball nicely. He tried to shoot one more time and then he almost shot over the whole press stand.”
