Prior to the January transfer window, there was a belief, or perhaps hope, from the Arsenal fanbase that their club would make a move for Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serbian striker has been in fine form for Fiorentina over the past couple of years, and the Gunners, in need of an out and out striker, had turned their attention to him quite strongly, to the point where Mikel Arteta was even asked about the rumours.

The Spaniard remained coy, but it appears, at least according to Italian journalist Eleanora Trotta, that the Gunners could make an official move for Vlahovic in the near future.

Speaking on CMIT TV, relayed by Calciomercato.it on Twitter, she made it clear that a move to Juventus for the player looked difficult, and that an eye should be kept on the Gunners.

She said: “Vlahovic-Juventus? In January, there is a need to monitor the situation of Arsenal. I’m told that an offer of €60m will arrive in the coming days. Fiorentina would like to sell him in January, and have already met with the agents of Julian Alvarez”.

That’s a bold claim, and one we’ll have to wait and see if there’s any truth in, but if what is said is in fact correct, it shows Arsenal’s intent to become, once again, a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.
