Far from helped by Carlo Ancelotti admitting he was taking a look at Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier, the rumours sending the England international to Italy continue to rumble on.

The Serie A side are looking to add to their full-backs since they’ve had a few issues with their current crop this season, and the Spurs defender appears to be top of the former Chelsea manager’s list.

Journalist Salvatore Calazza in Italy, writing for Il Roma, and relayed by CalcioNapoli24, reports on Friday that Napoli have gone as far as making a €20m bid for the Tottenham man.

However, that falls some way short of the €35m requested by the Champions League finalists, who appear to be open to letting their right-back go without making any concessions.

As Calazza points out, this could just be a tactic from Napoli, bidding low first to see where Tottenham stand before upping it a bit more and so on.

After all, negotiations have to start somewhere.

This isn’t going away anytime soon, by the looks of things, so be prepared for a relatively lengthy saga, Spurs fans.
