Back in the last summer, Newcastle United loaned Isaac Hayden to Standard Liege.
His time at the Belgian club wasn’t exactly a success, as despite being a regular starter at the beginning of the season, he then disappeared from the lineup, and soon made it clear he’d like to leave the club.
As outlet DH today features a story about some risky business that Standard Liege have been involved in, there’s a mention about Hayden’s arrival at Newcastle.
The Belgian side’s board is criticised for doing business without a big analysis, and it’s now claimed that they ‘approved’ the midfielder’s arrival despite knowing about his ‘knee problems’, but the desperation to sign some players pushed the deal through.
His physical situation is not the main reason why things didn’t go well for him there, but is one more factor which makes the local media worry about Standard Liege’s signings.
Following a return to Newcastle in January, Hayden was once again loaned by the Magpies, this time joining Queens Park Rangers on a short loan spell.
The move took place on deadline day, and he only made one appearance for the Loftus Road’s side so far.
