According to a claim in the Turkish media, Chelsea have reached an agreement with Trabzonspor to sign their goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.
Cakir has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Leicester City and Liverpool said to be interested in the 24 year old.
However, Haber365 report the Trabzon club have agreed to sell him to Chelsea, and they will receive €33m from the transfer. This would be a record-breaking transfer for a player being purchased from the Super Lig.
It’s been widely reported Frank Lampard will be in the market for a new keeper this summer to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga, who hasn’t shown the level expected of him when he moved to Chelsea.
Haber365 report Cakir wants to play in the Premier League and the move would be a ‘dream come true’ for him.
This season the Turkish international has made 40 appearances for his boyhood club. Despite him only keeping four clean-sheets, he’s very highly rated in his own country.
Cakir’s contract with Trabzonspor will expire at the end of June 2024, and the club have an option to extend it for a further year.
