While Aston Villa spent a good part of the transfer window trying to sign a left-back from Spain in Marcos Acuña, they are also reportedly after one of his compatriots in Nahuel Molina.
The claim comes from Italy, more specifically Tutto Juve, since Juventus are also interested in the Atlético Madrid defender, who made a return from injury before the international break by scoring a goal on his season debut in a 7-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.
He’s widely expected to be the starter now, like he was last year, with César Azpilicueta there to help out if needed, but Aston Villa could potentially spoil the party.
That’s what the website claim, as Unai Emery’s side are also joined by Arsenal and Manchester City in being interested in the Argentine.
It’s stated that Atlético Madrid want to extend their star until 2029, and this would be ‘crucial’ in helping them swat away rich Premier League clubs, such as Aston Villa, who are ‘lurking with interest’.
In fact, the Villans are ‘ready to make a very high offer’ for him, although that remains to be seen, because, as you well know, they already have two right-backs in their squad.
Those are Matty Cash and Calum Chambers, and while there is an argument to be made that an ambitious side like Aston Villa could upgrade on both of those with someone like Molina, it remains to be seen if the player wants to move to Villa Park and whether Atlético Madrid would even be remotely interested in selling him.
