According to a claim in the Swedish media, Aston Villa were tracking midfielder Charlie Colkett but they’ve eventually lost out to OFK Ostersund.
The Championship side have been linked with the former Chelsea player in this transfer window but the the player has taken the decision to head to Sweden to continue his career.
Fotboll Direkt report today Aston Villa were in the mix to sign Colkett before next week’s deadline and were trying to sign the youngster right until the end, their effort is really talked up.
It wasn’t certain who the 22 year old would join and despite Aston Villa’s interest he chose to head to OFK.
The Swedish football outlet report OFK have paid Chelsea a small fee for Colkett due to the young midfielder having 18 months left on his contract with the Premier League club.
Colkett will now head to Sweden over the weekend and then he’ll join up with his new teammates at their winter training camp in Spain.
