Arsenal are about to complete the signing of Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira, according to reports from Portugal.

Journalist Pedro Sepulveda writes ‘there’s already an agreement’ between the clubs to make the transfer.

The report points out the player is protected by a release clause worth €40m, even though it isn’t clear if that’s how much Arsenal are spending on the move.

According to Sepulveda, Vieira is travelling to London ‘in the next few hours’ so he can complete the transfer.

This transfer pretty much comes out of nowhere, as despite being linked to Premier League clubs, Vieira hadn’t been said to be in Arsenal’s sight for a long time.

Not to say the rumours never existed, but it was in December 2020 that we last saw the Gunners involved in a story with the player, as it was said the London side were ‘positioning themselves’ to sign him at the time.

Vieira stayed at Porto, and this week, a couple of stories even linked him to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, but certainly not to Arsenal.
