The City Group is close to announcing the deal for the purchase of Brazilian side Bahia, according to local reports.
An update from journalist Jorge Nicola claims that ‘everything is signed’, with contracts sorted out, and the pre-agreement should be made official this week.
The takeover by Manchester City’s owners will then have to be approved by Bahia’s council and members, which is expected to happen with no further problems.
Nicola adds that when agreeing to the deal, the Brazilian club demanded their colours should not change, so they’ll keep their original kits instead of wearing the sky blue like other sides from the City Group. Their name shouldn’t have radical changes either, and they could perhaps be called Bahia City once everything is concluded.
Recent claims from Brazil have said that the group’s intention is to make Bahia their second biggest club, only behind Manchester City. The investment is expected to be around £100m in the coming years.
