The City Football Group, Manchester City’s network of clubs, are eyeing a move for Feyenoord youngster Dermane Karim.
That’s according to 1908.nl, who say the 19-year-old is being ‘coveted’ by the group despite only making one six-minute appearance for Feyenoord’s senior team.
Manchester City have made a habit of scooping up talent the world over since the City Football Group was established, with them determined to always have the next big talents on their books.
The strategy often sees them signing talents from every corner of the globe before sending them to one of the clubs in their network, which includes Manchester City, New York City, Melbourne City, and various other clubs.
Feyenoord are willing to cooperate on a deal for Karim if it is ‘pushed through’ and would like to see him set a new record for the youth team in terms of a fee should he leave. The current record is the €1.5m deal that saw Jaromir Simr join NEC Nijmegen in 2001.
Karim is under contract with the Dutch club until mid-2026 after arriving in January 2022 from Planète Foot in his native Togo.
He’s been playing regularly for the U21s since then and seemingly caught the eye of those in charge at City Football Group, who are now showing ‘concrete interest’ in adding him to their pool of youngsters to develop.
