At the weekend, Pawel Cibicki to Leeds United came from nowhere to being a nearly done deal.

Reports in Sweden made it sound very much like Cibicki was on the verge of a move to Elland Road, with claims he’d agreed to join the club, had an outline contract, and a fee wasn’t so far away.

Reports of the potential Malmo transfer then went quiet, but now things are back – and Cibick has actually spoken.

Fotbollskanalen say Cibicki has confirmed Leeds United interest, and they quote the 23 year old as saying: “It’s fun when such big teams get in touch. It’s a big club in England. Then I like it here. I still have a lot to prove here too.

“The rest is simply with my agent. There’s a few days left, a few hours.”

When asked if Leeds United is a step up from Malmo, the forward said: “It’s a dream to go abroad to such clubs, it’s not a bad league. Obviously it would be fun.

“If it does’t work, I’ll stay here. It’s important to me that Malmo is paid, and that it feels good for me and for Malmo. If they’re not satisfied, I’ll stay.”

Just like current Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson, Cibicki is clearly very fond of Malmo and added he wants to play many more matches in the club’s shirt.

By that, Fotbollskanalen say the player means he’d return to Malmo at some stage if he signs for Leeds United this week.
