Alberth Elis’ dream to play for Chelsea was once again made public this week.
The Hondurian spoke to the media in his home country, and when speaking about his future, he was asked about his ambitions of succeeding in Europe.
“I think that’s my dream, to stay at the highest level and to transcend even further. That’s why I push myself in every training session. As things stand, I don’t know what could happen in a year or two,” Elis told Diario La Prensa.
Then he was quizzed whether he still has the dream of playing for Chelsea, and confirmed that’s still an objective for his career.
“It’s a childhood dream and those should never be lost. You fight to achieve those goals. I don’t know what might happen, but what matters is to work to be ready the day those opportunities arrive.”
Elis is now 27, and has a pretty big experience playing in America and Europe.
After standing out at Olimpia in Honduras, he played for Monterrey in Mexico and Houston in the United States. He then moved to Boavista in Portugal, getting then signed by Bordeaux.
They had him loaned at Stade Brestois last season, but are now doing good use of him, as he has five goals and one assist in 18 appearances this season.
By playing for Bordeaux in the French second division, it seems there’s a long way until he can impress Chelsea, especially at his current age, but it seems he hasn’t given up on that yet, and will continue working for it.
