AS Roma manager José Mourinho ‘really likes’ Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot, according to Calciomercato.
The Serie A side currently have Rick Karsdorp and Bryan Reynolds as the two right-backs in their squad.
Karsdorp has been the first-choice player, while the ex-Chelsea manager isn’t convinced by Reynolds. The American arrived in the summer and Mourinho believes the 20-year-old needs time to adapt to Italian football.
Therefore, the Giallorossi want to bring in a new fullback in January and Dalot has emerged as a target. He knows the league well, having spent the previous season on loan at AC Milan.
The 22-year-old is currently a backup for Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford. He wants to play regularly in order to make it to the Portugal squad for the Qatar World Cup.
Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto is aware of that. The Serie A side’s chief is ‘studying the strategy’ to sign Dalot on loan, with a right of redemption, in the winter market.
It’s said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s man will be ‘more than an alternative’ to Karsdorp at Roma. He has ‘all those characteristics’ Mourinho is looking for.
Dalot arrived at Manchester United from FC Porto in 2018, in Mourinho’s last window with the English club.
