Rasmus Højlund’s impressive debut season at Atalanta continues to attract attention from several clubs, including Chelsea.
Three weeks ago, Luca Percassi, the Serie A side’s CEO, made a trip to London to hold talks with Chelsea over a potential deal for the 20-year-old.
That’s according to Corriere di Bergamo, relayed by Tutto Atalanta, who state the forward was the ‘main theme’ of the meeting between the two parties in London.
The Blues seem to be ready to take further steps as the report states they could table an ‘attractive offer’ of around €68m to sign Højlund.
Percassi’s meeting with Chelsea took place around their Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund last month.
Earlier reports from Italy and Denmark had covered Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester United’s interest in the player. The Blues are now thrown into the mix.
The Atalanta chief ‘flew to London to talk’ with the west London club and this may help Chelsea to take the lead in the race to sign Højlund.
The Dane has managed 14 goals and six assists this season.
