In March of this year, Tahith Chong ended speculation around his future by signing a new contract at Manchester United.
The winger hasn’t featured for the Red Devils since committing himself to the Premier League giants.
His chances of featuring regularly for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will further reduce if United end up signing Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
A loan move this summer would help the 20-year-old feature regularly for the upcoming season. According to WESER-KURIER, SV Werder Bremen are interested in the Dutchman.
The German club are expected to part ways with Milot Rashica, and are looking to bring in a replacement for the Kosovo international.
Chong has been identified as one of the candidates and this is confirmed by Werder Bremen chief Frank Baumann.
“He is very fast, a real flank player and his profile fits [our requirement]. We can add two or three more players [who fit the profile],” said Baumann.
Werder Bremen’s financial situation has been impacted by the Covid-19 crisis, and therefore, taking Chong on loan would be an interesting prospect for them.
“Borrowing players from top clubs like this can make sense to us. Because of our situation, he’s a player who could be interesting,” Baumann added.
WESER-KURIER claim Werder Bremen are not the only club interested in Chong, and that could be a ‘problem’ for them in signing the United player. They don’t provide details of other clubs interested in Chong.
According to Bild, Chong’s representatives, Mohammed Sinouh and Roy Rajber, were in Bremen on Tuesday for transfer talks, and Werder Bremen’s head of scouting Clemens Fritz was also present during the discussions.
