Chelsea are holding talks with Jorginho over extending his contract, which is set to expire in 2023.
Jorginho has been at Chelsea since 2018, when he made a £51.3m move alongside manager Maurizio Sarri.
His time at Stamford Bridge has been a turbulent one, to say the least, with the Italian struggling to impress as he did with the Serie A side.
He improved under Frank Lampard last season but remains something of a divisive figure and has managed less then 1000 minutes of action in the Premier League this season.
His situation at the club could change now that Thomas Tuchel has arrived at Chelsea as Lampard’s replacement, though, and it seems they are keen to keep him around.
SportItalia TV journalist Gianluigi Longari reports that Chelsea have opened discussions with Jorginho about extending his deal at Stamford Bridge.
He says that they are keen to extend the Italian’s deal until 2025, so a two-year extension to his current deal.
Whether the 29-year-old wants to sign the deal isn’t mentioned and will certainly be interesting to discover given he has regularly been linked with a move away from Chelsea for the last year.
His willingness is likely to depend on whatever role he had under Tuchel, with a starting role in the 0-0 draw with Wolves on Wednesday suggesting the German is planning on using him regularly.
