Chelsea have still not been able to find a work permit for Andrey Santos, the Brazilian media says.
UOL today writes that the 18-year-old still couldn’t get the necessary points to be granted a visa and feature in the Premier League.
But Chelsea haven’t given up yet, as they reportedly believe that with the player’s current participation in the U20 South American Championship, he’ll be able to get that.
In case that doesn’t happen, then the Blues are set to be ‘forced’ to loan him out. And with the European windows closed, he’d move back to Brazil.
UOL points out that the Copa Libertadores is the tournament in South America that gives most points for a potential work permit, so Chelsea would send him to a club who are qualified for the competition this season. That’s not the case of his former club Vasco da Gama.
The Brazilian clubs who are in the tournament this season are Palmeiras, International, Fluminense, Corinthians, Flamengo, Athletico Paranaense, Fortaleza and Atlético Mineiro. The latter two are still in the playoffs, so there’s no guarantee they have many games ahead.
