Chelsea are about to complete the signing of Santos youngster Angelo, according to reports from Brazil.
Journalist Venê Casagrande claims the clubs are ‘close’ to an agreement worth £15m.
It’s claimed that Chelsea’s offer has already reached the Brazilian club and the negotiation is ‘close to being done’.
The Blues’ interest in Angelo had been reported on Wednesday morning by Catalan outlet Sport. They claimed that even though Barcelona have a priority over the winger, the Stamford Bridge side are the ‘best positioned’ club in the pursuit of him.
It’s now interesting to see Casagrande now bringing the news, because he’s actually more focused on Rio de Janeiro clubs, and would only report something like this if he was pretty much sure that the transfer is taking place.
Back in January, we saw Nottingham Forest getting heavily linked to Angelo. At the time, they wanted him on a loan, and the purchase would be done for around €18m in case they avoided relegation to the Championship.
Santos didn’t accept the offer at that time, and with the 18-year-old having ups and downs lately, it seems they now saw Chelsea’s bid as a good opportunity for a deal.
Meanwhile, UOL state the deal would be €15m, not £15m, although their claim is no offer has been made just yet.
