Xavier Mbuyamba was keen on joining Chelsea last summer, but their transfer ban saw the 18-year-old leave the Dutch club MVV Maastricht for Barcelona.

On May 19th, the defender’s agent Carlos Barros told Voetbal International his client is set to leave the La Liga winners and is attracting interest from several top clubs across Europe.

Barros also stressed the Blues have the ‘best credentials’ to sign the Dutch youngster, yet also explained his client could return to the Netherlands.

Juventus are one of the clubs believed to be interested in the centre-back and reports coming out of Italy on Monday explained the Old Lady are ready to do an exchange deal involving Mbuyamba and Mamadou Kaly Sene.

Mundo Deportivo have dismissed these claims and ruled out any possible swap deal with the Turin club involving the two youngsters.

The newspaper further states Barca will release the player in June as they have informed him his contract will not be renewed.

Chelsea get a mention and the report adds the Premier League side and Real Madrid are ‘interested’ in Mbuyamba.

However, Mundo adds the teenager returning to his homeland could have more weight.
