As Chelsea keep looking for a defender, the recent turnaround in their chase for a centre-back has made this saga become a bit more exciting.

On Monday we news from Italy which said Nikola Maksimovic had gone missing. The Serbian wanted to join Napoli, who could then sell Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea.

Gazzetta Dello Sport’s story said Maksimovic ended up drawing the Blues’ attention, who were said to be in pole position for the Torino defender.

And his rebel act has also been a hit in… Portugal. Record has an article saying that Chelsea’s interest in signing Victor Lindelof from Benfica will disappear in case they succeed in landing a defender in Italy.

However, they say they’re closer to signing Koulibaly, and not Maksimovic, which was the old information before Gazzetta’s article.

It’s quite confusing to say the least, although the many possibilities will make the last days of market a bit more entertaining for Chelsea fans (and for us, we admit).

But before we continue, can someone find Maksimovic first?
