Chelsea have suffered three defeats from seven matches played in all competitions this term and it includes a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League last midweek.
These all came in the Blues’ last five games, and it was enough for their new board, led by their owner and chairman, Todd Boehly, to show the exit door to Thomas Tuchel.
Following the German’s exit, Chelsea acted quickly and took Graham Potter from Brighton & Hove Albion on September 8th.
However, prior to appointing the Englishman, the west London club were given an opportunity to hire Vahid Halilhodžić.
That’s what L’Equipe are reporting about the Bosnian who is out of job since leaving the Morocco national team last month.
The 70-year-old still aspires for a new experience, and he would have seen himself in the Premier League.
It’s claimed an agent offered Halilhodžić to Chelsea and Boehly, who agreed to meet the representative, and ‘listened’ to the surprise managerial candidate’s plans.
This was before the Premier League side’s chief decided to make a firm bet on Potter, although he did tell the representative that ‘he wanted to hire an English manager and that he’d already made his mind up’, with that being the now ex-Brighton manager.
L’Equipe add that Halilhodžić has also been approached by unnamed Middle Eastern clubs.
