Chelsea youngster Andrey Santos is ready to make his debut for the national team. On loan at Vasco da Gama until June, the midfielder was called up for the upcoming friendly against Morocco, and is already joining the squad for that match.
His first game for Brazil is obviously a big thing for the youngster, and that’s why UOL managed to speak to the 18-year-old’s father about that.
André Santos revealed that the Chelsea player has a Manchester United midfielder as his reference. That’s Casemiro, who’s also at the national team squad for the next friendly, and could be partnering with Andrey in that sector.
“He targets Casemiro a lot, it’s part of his position. Possibly they can play together for a few minutes there,” André Santos told UOL about the Manchester United player.
Andrey’s father also talked about the loan from Chelsea to Vasco. He claims that the player made the choice of this comeback to his old club.
“When Vasco came, he was already very confident, it was what he wanted. We didn’t question it at any time. The decision passed through him and, afterwards, it was also a family decision.”
The midfielder was bought by Chelsea in January, but due to the lack of a work permit, he couldn’t start playing for the Blues. Now the loan at Vasco, as well as potential caps for the national team, should help him with that.
