Chelsea signed Juan Castillo from Ajax in 2016 and he’s represented the Blues academy over the past three years.

Earlier in July, the Europa League winners confirmed the 19-year-old has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2022.

According to De Telegraaf, his immediate future is likely to be away from the English capital.

The Dutch newspaper claims the left-back, who can also operate in midfield and on the wings, is expected to join Ajax on a loan deal. Sporting director Marc Overmars has included an option to buy the Netherlands U19 international.

It’s claimed the teenager was already at Ajax’s sporting complex, Sportpark De Toekomst on Thursday for his medical and also to prepare the necessary paperwork for the transfer.

Castillo was not included in Frank Lampard’s plans for this season, which is why he hinted a move away from Stamford Bridge would be better for his development.

“I have listened to my father. He said I had to see where I could best develop in the next three years,” he told Fox Sports in the Netherlands, as covered again today by De Telegraaf.

The Dutch newspaper says a move to Ajax fits Castillo’s career plan.
