Chelsea target Victor Lindelof has spoken out on his transfer situation at Benfica.
The 22-year-old defender, who’s been heavily linked to a departure this year, said his intention is to stay at the Portuguese club.
“I like Benfica. I’ve been in Lisbon for four years and I keep evolving as a player. For that, I’m going to stay,” said the Swedish international after the Supercup title this Sunday.
Before being linked to Chelsea, Lindelof was also speculated to be seriously interesting Manchester United, a rumour which didn’t seem credible at all, and was reportedly close to joining Middlesbrough, but the deal was called off by the Portuguese side.
In the recent reports, it was said that Chelsea were bargaining so they didn’t have to pay the defender’s €30m release clause.
He seems pretty convinced he wants to stay, the question is if a big offer wouldn’t change his mind. We’re pretty sure it would change his mind, but it would also be a shock if that genuinely came from Chelsea.
