With Chelsea on the verge of winning the Premier League in Antonio Conte’s first season at the club, rumours of the Italian manager looking to upgrade certain areas of his team for the Champions League next season have been appearing here and there.
A week or so ago, talk of Alexis Sanchez swapping the Emirates for Stamford Bridge were being pushed across various media outlets, including the Guardian, where Fabrizio Romano discussed at length Conte’s targets for next season.
Other than the Chilean star, a couple of names appeared for the left wing-back position: David Alaba and Alex Sandro.
While the former is yet to address the situation, the latter was asked in an interview with Corriere dello Sport if he was affected by the rumours sending him to La Liga and the Premier League next season.
Sandro, clearing the air once and for all, said: “It doesn’t affect me. It leaves me indifferent. All I’m interested in is Juventus, and I don’t try to play well for anyone else. I’m here, and I’ll stay here.”
The 26-year-old has been a key player for Juventus ever since his £22m move from Porto back in 2015, and that clubs such as Chelsea are interested is no surprise.
However, it seems they might find it very difficult to convince him in playing anywhere else in the near future.
Sandro has scored two goals and assisted his teammates five times in 34 appearances in all competitions this season.
