Portuguese newspaper Record claim in their Wednesday edition that Chelsea are willing to pay Victor Lindelof’s €30m termination clause.
The Swedish international defender is currently in England, training with his club Benfica at St George’s Park, and so if a move was to progress he’d be well placed.
The 22 year old central defender has seen his profile rise over the past season, and good performances for Benfica have led to links with other clubs. At one point Manchester United were also said to be willing to sign the player.
In May Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet published an article claiming Manchester United had submitted a bid for the player worth just over £20m, but that story soon died and there didn’t appear to be much in it.
It remains to be seen whether the Chelsea claims have the same fate, or whether this one progresses further.
Lindelof is right footed, and can play as a central defender, right back, or even in a defensive midfield position. He joined Benfica in 2012, and last year graduated from Benfica B to the first team squad.
