It appears that Chelsea are about to take the next step in their managerial search, as they prepare to have a chat with Julian Nagelsmann.
That’s according to Sport Bild on Thursday, who explain the former Bayern Munich boss is ‘one of the narrow circle of remaining candidates’ to take over from Frank Lampard once the season ends.
The outlet reveal the information that the 35-year-old, who has been on holiday for the past week or so, ‘should now have the opportunity to introduce himself personally’ to the Chelsea leaders and ‘present his ideas’.
This is what Luis Enrique did over a week ago when he travelled to London, and is said to have made a ‘good impression’, but no agreement has been reached, leaving the door open for Nagelsmann to hold a ‘job interview’.
The headline states that Chelsea will ‘invite’ the manager to hold talks, and the conclusion makes it clear that both Nagelsmann and Enrique are ‘considered favourites’ to take over at Stamford Bridge.
At this point, it seems Todd Boehly wants to ensure he makes the right choice following the failed Graham Potter experiment, and holding an interview with the young German manager makes a lot of sense.
