Barcelona are competing with Chelsea for Sevilla star Jules Koundé, according to today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo.

Having lost Antonio Rüdiger to Real Madrid and with Andreas Christensen set to join the Catalan club, the Blues have an urgent need to strengthen their centre-back position this summer.

This is where the France international fits in, a year after Chelsea failed to take him away from the La Liga side. It’s claimed the west London club will ‘bid very hard’ to sign the 23-year-old this summer.

Despite Chelsea’s plans, Xavi Hernández’s side have not given up on signing him.

Barca believe Sevilla don’t have an urgent need to raise funds after selling Diego Carlos to Aston Villa, and will accept players as a part of the deal.

If the defender opts to make a switch to London, then Barcelona will look at other options in the market and one of them could be Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

Over at ABC Sevilla, they explain the Andalusian club, after initial contacts, trust that Chelsea will make an offer for Julen Lopetegui’s man.

It’s said there is total agreement between the player and the Premier League side.

The report further adds that everything indicates Thomas Tuchel’s side will end up paying €60m for Koundé, who has already told Sevilla about his desire to leave the club.
