Chelsea have already secured Hakim Ziyech for next season, and the Blues are thought to be on the verge of also signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
In addition to that, they’re continuing to be linked with other expensive signings around Europe. One of those is Kai Havertz, and it’s thought Bayer Leverkusen are looking for around €100m if they’re to sanction a sale this summer.
SportBild report on Tuesday that Chelsea are ‘vying’ for the player’s signing, along with Real Madrid, Barcelona, with Bayern Munich also interested.
Leverkusen chief Fernando Carro has been speaking to the German media and made it clear a sale is possible this summer.
SportBild quote him as saying: “Kai has been with us for ten years. I see the player’s wish to take the next step sometime in the near future. You have to respect that just as much as the fact that he has a contract in Leverkusen until 2022.
“You have to try to find a solution where the player’s goal can be reconciled with ours. At the moment nobody can say for sure what will happen.”
Again, it feels an unlikely route for Chelsea given what they’re spending elsewhere in attack. And with Madrid and Barca also unlikely, Bayern would appear the standout option.
