Even though many reports in the Brazilian media today claim Palmeiras are about to sell 16-year-old wonderkid Endrick to Real Madrid, it’s interesting how Chelsea continue to be named in those stories.
The first of them was published by Globo Esporte at around 3AM. It said the Verdão are currently analysing an offer from the Spanish side which could be of over his €60m release clause.
The outlet pointed out the bid was considered good if compared to others, including Chelsea’s, and even pointed out there was ‘trust’ the Blues were willing to spend those €60m on the deal.
In other words, triggering the release clause wouldn’t be enough for the Stamford Bridge side, since Real Madrid has the player’s preference and are paying all taxes so Palmeiras can get the amount in full.
Now as UOL comes up with a new story, they say the La Liga giants agreed the final details on Tuesday and just ‘wait for the agreement’s signature’.
It’s still pointed out that Chelsea ‘continue to be interested and on top of the situation’, but it’s really Real Madrid who are actually about to land the youngster on a deal worth over €70m in total.
Endrick is only set to move to Europe in 2024, when he turns 18.
