After reports suggesting a number of Premier League clubs were still interested in OGC Nice’s Jean-Michael Seri, with Arsenal seemingly coming out on top, it’s Chelsea who have made the first move.

This is what Le10 Sport are reporting on Wednesday, stating that talks between the Blues and the Ligue 1 club could be ‘imminent’, with the Stamford Bridge club ‘at the ready’ to start negotiations.

In fact, the French website believe it ‘won’t be long’ before Chelsea come forward as they’re fully convinced about his talent following.

This follows a report in L’Equipe from mid-April stating Antonio Conte’s side had ‘initiated contact’ to try and find out about ‘the conditions for a transfer’.

The Ivory Coast international came very close to securing a move to Barcelona last summer following a very impressive 2016-17 season, only for everything to fall apart at the last minute.

Nice as a whole weren’t anywhere near as good in 2017-18, meaning Seri’s performances also dropped a level, but that hasn’t stopped big clubs from still liking what he has to offer.

Whether the Ligue 1 side’s stance of €40m or nothing has changed recently isn’t said, but, as far as we’re aware, the ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between player and club still hasn’t changed.

If someone wants him, they need to pay what is a very reasonable price in today’s market.
