Last night, Chelsea target Viktor Gyokeres had another great performance for Sporting, scoring a brace in the win against Vizela.
The striker now has 22 goals and 10 assists in 25 appearances for the Lions, having a very impressive first season at the Lisbon club.
Now since we’re in the middle of a transfer window, everything turns into market stories. And that’s now displayed by CMTV pundit Nuno Encarnação.
Speaking about Gyokeres’ performance, he claims the striker is only playing so well because he “has 15 days to prove Chelsea they should pay the 15 millions left”.
Encarnação is referring to the recent claims which said the Blues are offering €85m for the player, which is €15m below the player’s release clause at Sporting.
It’s just funny how the pundit thinks a player can do that much better because of the wish for a transfer. If things were easy like this, we could probably see some winning the Ballon D’Or just to guarantee a move.
After the game, Gyokeres was even asked about Chelsea’s interest in him, and claimed to be completely focused on his season with the Lions.
Sporting are very much decided against the sale in the middle of the season, and won’t let him go for less than the €100m fee. So we shall see whether these performances will indeed convince Chelsea to guarantee the signing now, because a potential summer battle should be huge.
