It’s been over an year since Chelsea started getting linked to Porto midfielder Jesus Corona, and it turns out that the summer transfer window could be the perfect time to go and get him.
Newspaper Correio da Manhã writes today that the player wants to leave the Dragons and already told the club his intentions.
He wants a new project with a new ‘sporting motivation’ and a ‘millionaire contract’.
Porto are said to be fine with his exit, especially because his contract expires next year, and that means they can find a solution for his case long before having the risk of losing him for free.
Now regarding the potential destinations, Correio da Manhã writes that Corona told his agent to go look for new clubs, and then names some of those who’ve been interested in his signing.
The Blues are named alongside the likes of Everton, Fiorentina, Sevilla and Wolverhampton Wanderers as the clubs who’ve ‘already shown interest’ in his signing.
Correio da Manhã points out it won’t take a lot to take Corona out of Porto this summer, since his contract says his release clause drops from €30m to €20m during the month of June.
So in case Chelsea spent this time wondering about signing him, it looks like this could be the time now.
