In the past week, we’ve seen several reports from South American claiming Chelsea are signing Santos wonderkid Angelo on a €15m deal.
It turns out that’s not the only promising Brazilian youngster who the Blues are working to buy this summer.
According to O Dia, Chelsea are in talks with Flamengo for the transfer of Matheus França.
It’s claimed that the Blues authorised agent Giuliano Bertolucci to negotiate on their behalf.
Flamengo’s request is said to be of €25m (£21.41m), and Chelsea signalled with a potential bid worth £20m. O Dia claims the talks have been taking place for days, and the official offer could arrive to the Rio de Janeiro side ‘at any time’ now.
The report says the Blues have been following the player since the youth ranks, and despite the old interest, this is the first time they are making a real effort for the signing.
It’s claimed that França’s agents are still to have been told about the talks, and will only be called by Flamengo once there’s a deal for the move.
The club know that the player’s agents had been planning a summer move, so they’re not expected to put any obstacles in the way.
