Chelsea are interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães, according to reports from Brazil.
Goal Brasil today writes that the Blues are keen on landing the 24-year-old in the January transfer window. The Stamford Bridge side are said to be ‘studying’ an offer for now.
Chelsea’s bid, which would only be sent to Newcastle once the winter market is open, is being discussed with Bruno Guimarães’ staff, according to the report.
The Magpies are believed to be aware there are clubs interested in the player, and that’s one of the reasons they are preparing an offer for a renewal. As previously reported by the very same outlet, it’s claimed that the club want him to be the best paid player in their squad.
It isn’t yet said how much Chelsea would want to pay for the player, who joined Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022 for over €40m. Despite rumours saying Real Madrid are also interested in him, Goal Brasil claim there’s ‘no contact’ from the La Liga giants for his transfer so far.
Bruno Guimarães has repeatedly spoken about how happy he is at Newcastle United, with his latest comments coming in the past few days. There’s every chance this is a nudge for the Magpies to hurry with their renewal efforts and make sure they present a fantastic offer.
