Chelsea‘s Enzo Fernández remains focused on finishing the season with the Premier League side amid Real Madrid links.

During the last international break, the 25-year-old talked about his love for Madrid as a city.

This led to suggestions of the Chelsea star wanting a move to Real Madrid in the summer.

The Blues weren’t happy with his comments and Liam Rosenior suspended him for two matches.

Earlier this month, Fernández’s agent Javier Pastore said he was ‘simply talking about a city’ [Madrid]. The representative also said his client made peace with the English club.

Chelsea player’s agent on Real Madrid links

AS now spoke to Javier Pastore to discuss a few topics. The Spanish newspaper ask him about Enzo Fernández’s situation as Real Madrid are ‘very interested’.

The agent wastes no time in dismissing these claims and insists the 25-year-old remains focused on Chelsea.

“There’s a lot of talk out there… but the truth is, nothing’s really happening. He’s focusing on finishing the year strong at Chelsea,” he said.

“It’s true he made some comments that weren’t entirely appropriate at the moment, but he didn’t say anything out of the ordinary either. He simply talked about Madrid, which he likes a lot.”

On suggestion he wants Real Madrid move, Pastore explained: “Every time he has a day off, he comes to Madrid because I’m there and because he has friends there. But that’s all it is. Nothing more. The goal is to finish the year well at Chelsea, have a good World Cup, and then we’ll see.”

Change of positions at Chelsea

The newspaper were curious what sort of a role the World Cup winner would have if he were to join Real Madrid.

When responding to that, he talks about how Enzo Fernández’s positions changed under Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.

“He’s playing in many positions. In the last two years, he’s changed a lot. With Maresca, he’s played much further forward. Later, under Rosenior, he played more as a defensive midfielder,” he added.

“With the Argentine national team, he’s also playing as a more advanced No. 8, getting forward to score. He had two years with many assists and goals, so it’s normal that coaches see him as more offensive than defensive. But he’s a player who can easily play in both positions.”
