As I’m sure you’re fully aware, nearly every summer sees Real Madrid browse the aisles of the goalkeeper market, mostly stopping at Ed Woodward’s stall, frantically trying to get him to let go of his prized item, David De Gea.

However, since the Manchester United CEO is a notoriously stubborn man, known mostly for his inability to turn fax machines on properly, Florentino Pérez’s second stop, as he walks past Hugo Lloris and laughs at Manchester City’s stall with Claudio Bravo and Joe Hart with “REDUCED” stamps on their foreheads, is Chelsea.

The man in question here is Thibaut Courtois, who once was a star in Spain at Atlético Madrid, much like David De Gea, and there have been numerous rumours stating the Belgian goalkeeper is a target for the La Liga champions.

The Chelsea goalkeeper himself has flirted with the idea of a return to Spain, a country he enjoyed playing in, where the weather is every so slightly warmer than delightful London.

One man who doesn’t appear to be helping the stories, it seems, is his agent, Christophe Henrotay, who gave a lengthy interview to Sport/Foot in Belgium for their transfer special edition.

Asked about Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid, he said: “Of course Thibaut is of interest to the big clubs, including the latest Champions League winner. He’s someone who helps you win games, titles. I meet regularly those in charge at Real Madrid, and Thibaut’s case has come up. My role is to keep him updated on the situation”.

Bet Chelsea are thrilled about that.
