Chelsea winger Willian is living a hard moment away from his club. With problems in his family and in the national team, his trip to Brazil during the international break has come at a good time for him.
UOL says that in a little over two years, Willian’s mother Zezé has gone through five operations and is having chemotherapy sessions to recover from a tumour.
Her health condition has reportedly deteriorated over the past few weeks, and that’s why Willian has recently posted on social media saying how hard it’s been to live so far away from her.
Willian is also struggling with the national team, where he’s lost his spot to Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho. His last matches for Brazil weren’t so good, and the player who was once considered irreplaceable on the right wing, has now been dropped.
As Neymar is currently suspended, Willian will have another chance for Brazil on Tuesday against Venezuela. But if Coutinho continues impressing, it’s likely the Chelsea player will return to the bench for the game against Argentina in the next international break.
It would be no surprise if Willian’s off the pitch problems are harming his form on the pitch, and his managers at both club and country level will no doubt be keeping that in mind.
