Chelsea star Jorginho has backed Romelu Lukaku to be a hit at Stamford Bridge should he complete a move from Inter Milan as expected.
The Blues are closing in on a deal for the Belgian striker, having turned their attention to him after failing to convince Borussia Dortmund to sell Erling Haaland.
Negotiations between themselves and Inter have been ramped up over the last few days, with it now believed a deal worth €115m has been agreed between the two clubs.
Should he make the move, it will be Lukaku’s second spell with Chelsea, having initially joined them as a youngster but failed to break through at Stamford Bridge.
That led to successful loan spells with West Bromwich Albion and Everton, with him later joining the latter on a permanent basis and going on to become the player with the most Premier League goals for the club.
He later joined Manchester United and continued to score goals before his move to Inter Milan two years ago, where he has since established himself as one of the top strikers in Europe.
He was particularly important in Inter’s Serie A title success last season, and Jorginho is confident Chelsea are getting a player who will make the difference for them.
“A player like Lukaku, who has been doing great seasons, was a champion in Italy, for sure is a player who would contribute a lot,” he told TNT Sports.
“Anyone who comes to contribute would be worth it. Let’s see the next episodes.”
