Real Madrid see Chelsea’s Kai Havertz as a ‘perfect solution’ to their problems this summer and consider any deal for him a ‘bargain’ as well.
That’s according to SportBILD, who cover the player’s potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu today and why it seems likely to go through.
They explain that Havertz is the ‘dream candidate’ to fill the gap left behind by Karim Benzema, who has departed to move to Saudi Arabia.
Those in charge at Real Madrid see the Chelsea man as a ‘technically delicate player’ who is also tall, fast and can head the ball as well. Three years in the Premier League have also made him more ‘robust’, both physically and mentally.
They’ve already received the seal of approval from the likes of Toni Kroos, who is one of the most influential players at the club and there is a growing belief Havertz ‘fits the bill’.
He is also keen on the move and Real Madrid are his ‘first choice’ club should he leave Chelsea now or in the near future. The German also sees the move to Madrid as the ‘next logical step’ for his career.
He had already held concrete talks with the Spanish club three years ago, but the Coronavirus pandemic put an end to any deal, and he went to Stamford Bridge instead.
Mauricio Pochettino would like to keep him at the club as he plans for next season, but Chelsea need to generate income after their lavish spending and Havertz is one of the ‘few players of value’.
They value him at around €60m, a figure seen as a ‘bargain’, particularly if Real Madrid can take advantage of the Blues’ poor negotiating position to bring it down further.
A deal makes sense for the Spanish giants and the player, while Havertz is also keen on from a personal perspective, meaning this looks likely to be a transfer that gains traction in the coming days and weeks.
