Cesc Fabregas has decided to stay at Chelsea for a little longer yet, according to claimsfrom Italy.

The player was much linked to a move out of the club during the summer, and recent reports said that after a failed attempt, Milan would try to sign him again in the January window.

But Calcio Mercato claims that despite having little game time this season, the player had a meeting with Antonio Conte and was told he will have chances to prove himself during the season.

The website says that Fabregas’ desire was to sign for Real Madrid instead of Milan. The problem was that the club failed to sell Kovacic, Isco and James Rodriguez, so the Spaniard would have to wait.

However, Madrid ended up with a transfer ban from FIFA, meaning they can’t make any signings in the next two windows unless their Court of Arbitration for Sport appeal allows.

The only motivation Fabregas would have to leave now would be if Antonio Conte breaks his promise before January. Otherwise, the player is said to be focused on staying at least until the end of the season.
