Chelsea now seem to have a clear path to sign Tim Steidten as their new football chief.

The good news for the Blues is today brought by French journalist Sebastien Denis, who clarifies some rumours regarding the 43-year-old’s future.

The report claims that Steidten is ‘absolutely not in contact’ with AS Monaco to replace Paul Mitchell, and is it’s actually Chelsea who ‘hold the line’ to get him.

The coordinator is free since his departure from Bayer Leverkusen last week. As pointed out by Sebastien Denis, the German official had been responsible for finding Piero Hincapié, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Edmond Tapsoba and Moussa Diaby at the Bundesliga side.

Chelsea’s links with Steidten come from September 2022, when the German media had already been saying that the Blues were looking for him to work under Todd Boehly at Stamford Bridge.

The official had only worked at Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen, in several positions related to scouting and squad management. So if accepting to take Chelsea’s offer, he’d be taking his first job outside of the Bundesliga.
