While everyone at Chelsea wrings their hands about big money signings not working out, there’s one which may have proven to be very smart, and that is Kendry Páez.

That’s at least if the consistent reports from Ecuador are to be believed, with Diario Expreso and Diario Extra continuing the praise today after he was likened to Messi earlier this week.

First Expreso, who cover praise from the Argentine press after Páez led Independiente del Valle to a comfortable win over San Lorenzo this week.

They were quick to label him the greatest talent in South American football and the newspaper back that up, highlighting his ‘talent and intelligence’ as being off the charts for a player who is still only 16-years-old.

He demonstrated his star quality in the Copa Libertadores, with him winning the penalty for the first goal and scoring the second himself in that 2-0 success.

They say he ‘exhibited a sober game’ throughout, got the timing right when releasing the ball and ‘danced’ around his rivals with a comfort very rarely seen in someone so young. In other words, Chelsea have an absolute star on their hands.

Diario Extra certainly think that as well, saying Páez ‘exhibits magic’ and ‘dazzles’ on the international stage.

Like their counterparts and those from Argentina as well, they are full of praise for the youngster and the impact he had on the game despite his young age.

They certainly believe he’s a star of the future and it’s fair to say Ecuador are very proud of him as a result.

That’s all-good news for Chelsea, who appear to have secured an exciting signing for the future whose making waves long before he rocks up at Stamford Bridge.
