Chelsea are still in contacts for the signing of PSG defender Thiago Silva, according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The Italian outlet had already reported the initial talks last week, and now claim that the move is a real possibility, although the negotiations aren’t ‘official’ yet.

Thiago Silva is said to be a fan of Antonio Conte’s leadership, and the possible transfer could become more concrete over the next month.

PSG, on the other hand, are trying to protect themselves by offering the defender a new contract, which would run until 2020. But the two sides are said to be still far away from a deal, and Silva may end up having to choose between the cities of Paris and London.

Last week, Sport Witness had an exclusive chat with Thiago Silva’s agent Paulo Tonietto, who called Chelsea a “big club” and said his client was not negotiating a new contract with the French side.

“We’re not negotiating a new contract, let’s see what happens before December. Thiago’s deal ends on June 30th 2017 if PSG don’t qualify for the Champions League. Everything is possible in football.”

Tonietto informed Sport Witness he hadn’t spoken to Chelsea yet, which may well contradict the Italian claims.
