Chelsea have revived their interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, and he intends to leave Goodison Park this summer.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says Chelsea have ‘resumed negotiations’ for the Belgian midfielder and shown a ‘strong interest’ in signing him again.
He reports that the midfielder is open to leaving Everton this summer after a year at the club following his move from Lille last summer.
Everton are also open to selling the player as they have an ‘urgent need for cash’ and want to make at least £55m from any potential sale. That would hand them a major profit on the €35m they paid to sign the midfielder last summer.
Whether Chelsea are willing to pay such an amount isn’t mentioned but it’s potentially unlikely given their lavish spending in the last two transfer windows.
The more likely option is that they try to include players in any potential deal, with those in charge desperately needing to cut down the size of the squad and reduce the wage bill.
That could suit Everton as they desperately need reinforcements for Sean Dyche’s squad, although the need for money to balance their books would likely overrule that.
